Love dogs and smoking hot men? The Love Off Leash series is for you. Different authors. Unrelated stories. Shared theme of new love and pets.
Attorney Sam Trevisani never thought he’d play the bad guy, but now his job makes him the enemy of every dog owner in town—and whenever he meets his main opponent, Dan Bailey, the vet gives him the evil eye. Tired of playing for the wrong side, Sam has to find a solution. Maybe the tempting Dr. Bailey can help him find a solution for his restless need for change. Or maybe it’s his attraction to the vet that pushes him to pay a late-night visit.
Tired of town politics and manipulative games, Dan has no interest in helping the flashy lawyer. Yet Sam's dogged interest in him proves oddly appealing. Dan reluctantly allows the attractive lawyer into his house, and sparks fly. Sam doesn't mind hookups, but Dan doesn't do them--yet in one night, they both change their minds.
Determined to keep Dan from running away from something promising between them, Sam has to get past his attorney uncle, Dan's pack of misfit dogs, and a powerful but unpleasant client who could end not only the town's chance for a dog park but any chance of romance between the lawyer and the vet.

I liked the story and characters overall but there was just too quick a jump into romance for two guys whose lives crossed serendipitously. A bit of fluff and a lot of heat in spots and a good short read.Product details

Hot Under the Collar Love Off the Leash edition by Summer Devon Romance eBooks Reviews
4-1/2 Stars
This is my first Summer Devon contemporary romance and it was a lovely introduction to her take on present day love. If you are looking for an angst filled dramatic romance well then this is probably not the story for you. Hot Under the Collar is light, fun, and heartwarming that has moments of conflict to fuel the flames but it is not angsty.
Some might say that Dan and Sam's story is an enemies to lovers tale and I suppose to a certain extent that's true but I personally would not classify them as enemies, I think adversaries is more accurate. Whatever terminology you use or trope you want to tag them as, Hot Under the Collar is a lovely read that left me smiling, happy, and overall entertained. What more can a reader ask for?
Whether you are a pet lover or a dog person really won't matter because Sam and Dan's chemistry is what really tells the story. Their connection may not be smoldering or off the charts but it is definitely there and will keep your interest alive from page one to the end.
A light, lovely read. Who doesn't like a little fluff romance to start off the summer?
I have never read this author before. I will try more of this author's book but this one the book is good the writing is ok, I just really did not feel the connection. I felt it was rushed between them. I felt like when it ended that it did just that. There was nothing there. There was no romance. I am a sucker for romance and that is what I wanted and expected. I didn't get that. I don’t even mind instant love but that wasn’t even there.
Now both Sam and Daniel are great guys but on opposite sides to start. Then when confronted by Dan, Sam makes a hasty exit and his whole outlook changes. Not that it is bad.
What I liked is that Sam and Daniel are good people and same has the best interest of what he does at heart. The crux of the matter is that Dan wants a dog park for their city, but Mr. Fitch owns the rights to the land and has his lawyer Sam stop it at every turn. This book is sweet and sexy with a man not out, but not hidden completely. It has a great premise I just felt it fell a little flat for my taking. I really wanted to love this book with no question. It just, like I said felt rushed and finished but not, because it was over before it really got going. Maybe they will get more story since this is a series. I will, however, give this author another shot because like I said the plot was good as well as the writing and hoping maybe I will get more of them.
The Love Off Leash series will be your new favorite if you like hot guys, pets and love. Different authors with their unrelated stories give us some great reads with the shared theme of new love and pets.
Hot Under the Collar is part of this series and I had a good time reading it. This is a fun enemies to lovers kind of short story with two great MCs, adorable animal friends and an entertaining plot.
Dan Bailey is a vet who lives with his group of stray animals, four adorable dogs of all mixes and a couple of cats. He works hard for the animal community and is fighting for the opening of a dog park in his town, Clayton. At a community meeting at the city council hall he meets the lawyer who destroys their dream of the park and recognizes an old schoolmate in him from high school about a thousand miles away. Small world as the saying goes and this chance encounter changes both guys’ lives for good. Their mutual attraction is instant and as they discover each other’s true selves and they form a budding friendship, their feelings won’t let them go on their separate ways ever again. There are a few obstacles to overcome but nothing is impossible when your heart is on the line.
I love the characters. They are fun and real. Both of them are their own men with solid backgrounds and wholesome personalities. They work perfectly together with a solid chemistry and fun banter.
The story has some interesting twists and secondary characters, and Dan’s dogs just make this read all the more fun. Great, entertaining couple of hours you get with reading this short story. Enjoy.
Love Bytes Reviews
This is a quick, fun, sweet, humorous story. It was light and filled with laughter. Sam was by far my favorite character. His whole personality held a sort of schoolboy mentality. I don’t know if he was truly as clueless as he sounded at times or he was just that adorable. Maybe a little of both.
This is an enemies to lovers story without a doubt. When Sam and Dan first meet they are on opposite sides of the fence. Sam is a lawyer for a tightwad and Dan wants a dog park on the land that the tightwad owns. You can see where this is problematic.
We follow the two guys as they explore what they want. Dan with his tons of dogs and laid back attitude. Sam with no dogs and a very lonely life. It is very fast paced, maybe too fast at times. I wanted more time with Sam and Dan to truly feel the chemistry. It was there but slight. I wanted more because they were so lovely.
This is a no angst book. Next to no conflict. A truly feel good book that just puts a smile on your face. Summer Devon's writing is as lovely as ever and I'm always a fan of her style.
I liked the story and characters overall but there was just too quick a jump into romance for two guys whose lives crossed serendipitously. A bit of fluff and a lot of heat in spots and a good short read.
